In this task you are asked to solve different analogy puzzles. Some of these puzzles contain verbal information, some will contain numerical information, and some will contain shapes. Other problems will contain a combination of verbal, numerical, and/or shape information.
Before you begin, let me explain how to do it by showing you an example.
This problem can be read as: HOT is toCOLDasBLACKis to what?
Your task is to identify which of the four answer options best completes this analogy.
As one could say that COLD is the opposite of HOT, the correct answer in this case should be WHITE. That is, the opposite of BLACK is WHITE.
This puzzle is a little different.
As in the previous example, it can be read as: HOT is toCOLD as is to what?
Which means that the 'rule’ between the first (HOT) and the second term (COLD) must be applied to shapes. Which of the answer options completes the analogy?
The Flexible Mapping Tasks Instruction (2)
The first of the answer options is the opposite of the square with a circle in it. It therefore is the correct answer to this puzzle.
In the third and final example, again, the same pair of words is presented, but this time the third term is a number.
The task is the same as in the previous examples: Find the number that represents the “opposite” of 16.
The last of the answer options would be the solution of this analogy.
Note:
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because ‘a(chǎn) circle in a triangle’ is the opposite to ‘a(chǎn) triangle in a circle’ which makes ‘the rectangle in the oval’ the opposite to ‘the oval in a rectangle’.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because ‘SMALL’ and ‘LITTLE’ have a similar meaning and so have “GLAD’ and ‘HAPPY’.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because the image that looks like a four-leave clover is 4 times the image that looks like a single leave.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because the opposite of ‘FALL’ would be ‘RISE’.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because ‘8?9’ is an equivalent to ‘16?18’
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because a ‘COW’ has 4 ‘LEGS’.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because ”3?4” is the reciprocal of “1 3?4”.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because both images have the equivalent number of squares.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because the difference between 18 and 31 is the same as between 2 and 15.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because it represents the bottom half of the original image.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because a ‘FOAL’ is a smaller or younger version of a ‘HORSE’.
This is the correct completion of the analogy, because the image replicates the difference between 2 and 15 in terms of hands on a clock.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because ‘WHEEL’ represents the bottom part of a ‘TRIKE’.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because 22 is a smaller number than 36.
This is the correct completion of the analogy, because the difference in age between a 'TODDLER' and an 'ADOLESENT' is similar to the difference between 2 and 15.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because this image represents a smaller version of the star image.
This is the correct completion of this analogy, because the ‘8’ represents the bottom part of the mathematical expression
In this task you are asked to solve different sorting puzzles. Some of these puzzles contain words, some will contain numbers, and some will contain shapes.
This is an example that uses words.
Below, you see the word GREEN.
In the options section, you see four pairs of words.
Your task is to find the pair that best matches the word on the left. Looking for what the words might have in common will help you to solve the puzzle. Which pair is it?
GREEN is a colour and so are BLUE and VIOLET. Therefore, the pair 'BLUE & VIOLET' is the correct answer.
Now we rearrange the elements in box.
The words in the options section shuffled around and create new pairs.
The task remains the same: Find the pair that best matches the word shown below.
But,the old sorting rule does not apply anymore. You need to find a new one. Which pair is it now?
The words in the pair MEET and FEEDER have a double E, so does GREEN. Therefore, the pair 'FEEDER & MEET' is the correct answer now.
Now the words are shuffled around once again.
Again, the old sorting rule does not apply anymore. You need to find another new one. Which pair is it now?
The words in the pair FIRST and WRONG each have five letters, and so does GREEN. Therefore, the pair 'FIRST & WRONG' is the correct answer now.
Before you begin, here are some further information:
This is the correct answer, because as all three words are related to food or eating.
This is the correct answer, because all three words are in the past tense.
This is the correct answer, because all three words contain 6 letters.
This is the correct answer, because all three words are related to flying.
This is the correct answer, because all three words contain the letter sequence ‘BAT’.
This is the correct answer, because all three words have only one syllable.
This is the correct answer, because 600 + 189 = 789.
This is the correct answer, because all three numbers are made up of consecutive digits.
This is the correct answer, because all three numbers are a combination of the digits 7, 8 and 9.
This is the correct answer, because 11 x 9 = 99.
This is the correct answer, because the digits that make up these three numbers form a symmetrical pattern.
This is the correct answer, because the sum of digits for each of these three numbers is 18.
This is the correct answer, because all three images have a “stair-like” shape.
This is the correct answer, because all three images have a black and white pattern.
This is the correct answer, because all three images contain three circular shapes.
This is the correct answer, because all three images contain a spiral.
This is the correct answer, because all three images contain a circular shape.
This is the correct answer, because all three images have 8 decorative elements.
